Martin Luther Christian University implements a project “Development of Science Technology and Innovation Hub: Utilization and adaption of traditional knowledge, resources and technological advances in post-harvest management and nutrition for empowering children, women and youth in tribal Meghalaya” funded by Science for Equity, Empowerment and Development (SEED) Division, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India that will improve the health status and create employability through capacity building, training programs and the fellowship programs.
The fellowship program of the Science Technology and Innovation (STI) Hub intends to help the youth, especially those from the rural areas, in food production and entrepreneurship.
Through this project10 micro-processing units will be set up in Ri-Bhoi district. The micro-processing units will process food produces and it will provide employability to people in the rural area.
The STI hub uses green technology such as the black and grey water recycling system and a solar dehydrator. The black and grey water recycle system used here is the first in Meghalaya.
The project will improve the nutritional status in children and women, give them access to efficient technologies and build long term assets. Jobs will be generated and there will be improvement in the entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Duration: 2021 to 2024 (3 years)
