Workshop on “Psychodrama and Expressive Arts Therapy”

Organized by Department of Psychology, MLCU in collaboration with Department of Arts & Culture, Government of Meghalaya as part of Tribal Pride Week (Janjatiya Gaurav Divas) on the 16th November 2022 which was held at Divine Saviour Parish, Nongshylliang.
The Resource Person for this event was Mrs. Magdalene Jeyarathnam, Founder Director East West Center for Counselling & Training in Director Indian Institute of Psychodrama. a certified Psychodramatist with more than 25 years of working experience with addiction, HIV/AIDS and mental health issues, also worked with UNICEF and WHO, she is also on the board of directors of the International Association of Group Psychotherapy and group Processes and co-founder of Expressive Arts therapy Association of India.
The program was compered by Ms. Jochanan Diengdoh, Faculty, Dept. of Psychology, MLCU. The first workshop was a peak into expressive art therapy with the objectives to bring an understanding of how all creative arts are therapeutic; to experience that Arts is healing and is therapy; and to help participants experience visual art, movement, storytelling, psychodrama, poetry, music when used intermodal can bring a deep catharsis within.
The second workshop was on Orientation to Psychodrama which gave the participants an understanding through experience the process of psychodrama; to help them convey the essential steps and to explain the key elements of psychodrama through action.
